Class with a Minister - Poetry as Sacred Practice
Facilitated by Rev. Jacqueline Brett
In these chaotic and disruptive times that bring us into contact with unsettling feelings of fear, grief, or despair we will explore how humans used poetry as a form of expression through their creation of prayers, blessings, lamentations, stories and psalms.
Over the course of four sessions, we'll explore the reading and writing of these forms as a practice, source of reflection, healing, and "good medicine". How they allow us to bear witness to the here and now.
No writing experience is necessary, only a willing heart and commitment to presence. Participants will be asked to select a published collection of these forms to explore and work with over the course of the class. A list of collections to consider will be provided.
