Art as Activism: An Interactive Artist Talk with Jasmine Powell
Join Jasmine Powell, a Creative Expressionist from Hillsborough, NC, as she talks with our community on using art in the activism space.
The Fall 2026 ERUUF Artist-in-Residence, Jasmine Powell pushes beyond traditional dance boundaries to evoke deep emotional connections. Powell’s international career is marked by performances that blend storytelling, embodiment, and the hidden stories within each dancer. Founder of Jasmine Powell Creative Expressionist LLC and an Assistant Professor at Elon University, she is a recipient of the 2026 National Dance Educators Organization Outstanding Dance Educator in Higher Education Award and is certified in Alvin Ailey Certified Horton Teaching, Pilates, and Conscious Resilience Coaching. Integrating dance and somatics, Powell honors the cultural histories embedded in our body-based personal narratives. This philosophy continues to shape her contributions to dance through a persistent creative expressionist lens.
