"Race as a Social Construct. What does That Mean to You? How has Race influenced your Life? What does Race Mean in the US Today?"

Image Caption: NINE AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN at Atlanta University.

From Negro Life in Georgia, compiled and prepared by W. E. B. Du Bois (Vol. 4, No. 341). Du Bois’s albums of photographs of African Americans were exhibited at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. (Daniel Murray Collection, Library of Congress.) We ALL are unique experts about race in our lives. Nevertheless, recent scholarship has suggested that “Race is a Social Construct” and not “a static, objective, or natural reality”. Marcia and Millie Biggs are twins. They say they’ve never been subjected to racism—just curiosity and surprise that they have different skin colors. One should not confuse “Race” with “Genetics”.

Here’s a brief video about these Twins
