Meets on Thursday nights from 7-8:30 pm.

The Eno River Drum Circle meets on Thursday nights from 7 to 8:30 pm in the CARE Building. The group is open to beginners and experienced drummers alike. We play djembes, ashikos, and dununs, focusing on West African drumming.

Special Note: We have a health request for attending the group as we are a “Scent Free Space”. Some members have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) to fragrances. To be inclusive of them, we need people to not wear perfumes, aftershave, scented laundry detergents/dryer sheets, etc. Thank you for helping members of our drum circle breathe!

It is said that “The drum does not see people’s color. The drum does not see people’s gender. The drum does not see people’s age. What the drum sees is people’s hearts.”

We look forward to meeting new people and drumming the intricate weaving of rhythms that is the hallmark of West African music.
