UU Justice NC's Friday Action Hour - Friday March 6th at 11:00am on Zoom. Stop the SAVE Act & No War in Iran! This week, we are proud to partner with the UU Solidarity Initiative for this National Action Hour. Together, with UUs across the country, we will call on members of congress to vote No on the SAVE Act and call for No War in Iran!

Sweet Success
Sincere thanks to all who contributed to the card-writing campaign conducted by ERUUF's justice group Protecting Separation of Church and State.
In a 30-minute meeting with one of Rep. Valerie Foushee’s aides on Jan. 30, Helen Wolfson and Eric Thomas hand-delivered 180 colorful handwritten messages asking her to cosponsor H.Res 773, which honors the separation of church and state and opposes “extreme right-wing Christian nationalism.”
They also delivered 14 messages to Deborah Ross and a few each to Reps. Hudson, Knott, Edwards, and Harrigan. More messages were mailed to Reps. Foushee and Ross about a week later (18 more to Foushee; 3 more to Ross).
On Feb 20, Rep. Foushee was added as a cosponsor!

Expanding ERUUF’s Food Drive
The Multicultural Team (MCT) is expanding ERUUF's response to help people in Durham experiencing food insecurity. The MCT is collecting food for the Emanuel Food Pantry (EFP), a weekly mobile food distribution service located at Iglesia Presbiterianna Emanuel (Durham Presbyterian Church). The EFP serves over 860 families every week.
On the first Sunday of the month, ERUUF’s collection goes to the Urban Ministries of Durham. The MCT/EFP food drive is focusing on the items most needed: breakfast cereals and protein. Beginning in March, this will be an ongoing food collection.

On Friday, February 27th at 11:00am we will celebrate our 300th Friday Action Hour! Join us for this special event where we will celebrate our wins, hear reflections from Action Hour participants, and of course, there will be confetti!

UU Justice NC February 20, 2026
UU Justice NC's Friday Action Hour - February 20th at 11:00. This week, we'll be joined by Cole Parke, national organizer with Christians for a Free Palestine. In November, they traveled to Palestine to attend the Kairos Conference and meet with partners on the ground. On Friday, Cole will share stories and reflections from their time in Palestine, and invite us to reflect on our own faithful response to the war in Gaza.

UU Justice NC's Friday Action Hour with special guest Emma’s Revolution! Friday, February 13th at 11:00amET. Join UU Justice NC this Friday as we close out our National UU Weeks of Action. Together, we will call key members of congress on the final day before the DHS funding deadline to tell them - No ICE in our communities! No ICE in our budget! We will not let our tax dollars be used to fund the violent and unlawful actions against our people. And Emma’s Revolution will perform their brand new song, “No ICE!”

Latin American Migration Action Team continues work with Cristosal
After the tremendously successful Immigration Justice Weekend, held in November 2025, ERUUF’s Latin America Migration Action Team has continued to be in community with Cristosal, human rights defenders based in Central America. If you were moved by the stories told by Rene Valiente and Tarrah Palm, you may be interested in continuing your learning. There are three near-term opportunities for you:
- On February 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm, Cristosal will host a Field Notes conversation, “An Update on the Authoritarian Playbook,” featuring historian Ruth Ben-Ghiat. Register here.
- February 12, 2026, at 3:00 pm, Critsosal and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) will be co-hosting a webinar, “Confronting Authoritarianism and Human Rights in Central America.” This will feature human rights defender Rene Valiente and academic expert Ligia Bolivar. - Cristosal and UUSC developed a policy brief, “Protecting Due Process in Immigration, Ending Unlawful Deportation.” Read it here.

UU Justice NC February 6, 2026
On Friday, February 6th at 11:00am ET, UU Justice NC will close out the ICE Out! National UU Week of Action at our weekly Friday Action Hour! We will write letters to the editor demanding that ICE leave our communities and end their violent, immoral actions. Together, we can send a loud and clear moral message in Sunday papers in NC and across the country.

Showing Up for Democracy Action Team
The voter registration deadline for NC to vote in the March Primaries is Friday, Feb. 6. In Durham Co., find your voter info at https://www.dcovotes.dconc.
The You Can Vote website: https://www.youcanvote.org/ has information on registering at any Early Voting Site February 12-18 or on March 3 from 6:30-7:30 pm at your assigned polling place for the Primary Election.
