The Pulse Survey is an anonymous survey conducted annually by the Committee on the Evaluation of Ministry (CEM) for the Board of Trustees. Its purpose is to learn from you -- members and friends -- about how we’re doing as a congregation.

The survey closes April 14th. It takes 15 minutes to complete. Take the survey here.

The feedback you gave us last year brought about numerous changes, which have been implemented by Rev. Jacqueline and ERUUF’s ministerial team, among them:

  • Due to a lack of knowledge about the work of ERUUF’s Justice Ministry, the first Sunday of each month has been declared “Justice Sunday,” with a presentation during worship from one of the Justice Action Groups.
  • When the ministers observed a greater desire for spiritual development, they created 3-4-week classes, held once in the fall and once in the spring, developed and facilitated by each minister. They also conducted focus groups to hear how best to meet congregants’ interests and needs for Adult Programs.
  • Concerns about Pastoral Care resulted in a new system where each of the ministers rotates weeks being on call for pastoral care emergencies.
  • Demographic information we collected helped ERUUF respond to Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) certification regarding numbers of its BIPoC and LGBTQIA+ members and friends.
  • Indicators about involvement and interest in Children, Youth, and Religious Exploration resulted in this becoming one of the five goals of our new Strategic Plan.

We made several updates and added in questions related to the Strategic Plan and the Mission and Ends Statements. In keeping with ERUUF’s commitment to racial equity, the CEM also incorporated lessons learned from the workshop presented by the Theory of Change Committee and spent time focusing a lens on the survey to ensure its language was inclusive. If you’re interested in reviewing the source we used, please see The Nonprofit Association of Oregon’s Equity and Inclusion Lens Guide.

You should know that information from the survey is used to understand current and future needs of our Fellowship; to identify opportunities to develop and/or refine programs and activities offered by ERUUF; and to monitor progress against ERUUF’s stated mission, ends statements, and strategic plan.

We’ve noticed that only 25% of Members and fewer than 10% of Friends typically participate in the survey. This year we’re committed to increasing the level of participation, and this is where we could really use your help. Once you complete the survey, please encourage others within our beloved community to participate. Become a Pulse Survey ambassador! You will help contribute to the betterment of ERUUF. The survey closes April 14th. Thank you from a grateful Committee on the Evaluation of Ministry
