Greetings Dear Members and Friends of ERUUF,
As we near the end of 2025, I suspect that, like me, you are both distressed and heartbroken by where we are as a nation. And especially by all that continues to occur in North Carolina and the cities and towns that make up our Triangle region.
I have been proud of the rapid and determined response by many at ERUUF to stand in solidarity with local immigrants facing ongoing threats from Border Patrol and ICE.
- Those of you who organized to pack and deliver groceries to families who were sheltered-in out of fear.
- Those who were able to provide assistance and support to children and families who needed to travel safely to and from school or work.
- Those among you who have received training by trusted local partners and who are prepared to participate in ongoing, effective, and strategic community responses.
As a people who recognize our interdependence with others, we embody our values of love and justice by consciously addressing critical needs within the community.
I
n thinking ahead to the coming year, I invite you to consider a year-end gift to ERUUF’s Minister’s Discretionary Fund. The Fund is used primarily to meet emergency needs among the people of our congregation and for individuals in the community beyond our walls affected by an unexpected crisis.
The Fund also enables us to respond quickly in providing institutional support to community leaders and organizations as they develop on-the-ground responses to rapidly evolving emergency situations.
While none of us knows what next year will bring, we can be confident that collectively we will remain a values-centered people, committed to providing needed support when serious challenges arise.
Ubuntu,
I am because you are. You are because I am.

Rev. Jacqueline Brett
Lead Minister
