Rev. Deborah Cayer Voted as Minister Emerita
At ERUUF's Annual Meeting on May 19, 2024 the congregation overwhelmingly voted to designate Rev. Deborah Cayer Minister Emerita. Rev. Cayer served ERUUF for 14 years, which included 12 years as Lead Minister.
Below is Rev. Cayer's response to this honor:
Dear Members and Friends,
My heart is overflowing with gratitude and love upon hearing the news that at this year's Annual Meeting members voted to designate me Minister Emerita. Thank you for this distinguished honor and opportunity to be in right relationship with the congregation.
Though Chris and I are away from Durham for a good part of the year, ERUUF is always in our minds and hearts. Thank you again for this lovely honor.
Blessings,
Rev. Deborah

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, ERUUF will hold a multi-platform Annual Meeting of the Fellowship. This is an excellent opportunity for our members to engage in the governance of our community.
We need a quorum of 10% of our membership to open this meeting, so we encourage all of our members to mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend online or in-person.
Under our model of policy governance, the congregation gathers to vote on important ERUUF business, including reviewing and voting on our budget, electing members to our Board of Trustees, Nominating Committee, and Healthy Congregations Committee. This year we also will be voting on a resolution to nominate Rev. Deb Cayer as Minister Emerita and hearing from ERUUF leadership regarding key accomplishments for the past year.
There will be three participation options available:
Regarding the Maple beside the Care Building
Sad Garden News: The large Japanese maple beside the Care Building has declined and is largely dead. This maple was planted in the mid 1990's in honor of RE Director, Anne Barton Robinson. We want to acknowledge this dedication as we make plans to remove and replace the tree.
The area of the flower bed next to the Japanese Garden will be reworked and a new tree planted in the Fall.
